阿达·阿哈罗丽(Ada Aharoni)一九三三年生为当今以色列最知名的女诗人,现执教以色列海法大学。女诗人原埃及出生的犹太人,在埃及接受英国教育。一九四八年,她十四岁时遭埃及放逐移民以色列。但由于对出生地怀有一种特别依恋的感情,故为一以埃和平的虔诚追求者。
尤其对童年玩伴,一个回教女孩怀念最切,她写的许多诗都是以这个童年游伴为倾诉对象。据说当一九七七年以埃和平谈判开始时,女诗人曾写《从海法到咫尺天涯的开罗》一诗呈给当年埃及总统沙达特。后来沙达特为谋求以埃和平到以色列的国会发表演说时,曾特别提出“把和平的诗篇演变成真”,即是对女诗人赠诗的回响。后来终于签订以埃和平协定,结束以埃世仇,恢复邦交。
女诗人现为以色列英文诗刊《声音》主编。著有诗集七本、小说三本。最新完成的小说集《从尼罗到约旦》,诗集《不再有战争》。这本诗集旨在强调世上只有母爱最伟大,比任何战争更能拯救人类,女诗人多年来团结世界上的诗人反对战争。这本中英对照诗集均并译自她的英文诗集《从金字塔到卡迈尔山》(一九七九年出版)。 
Ada Aharoni, writer, poet and lecturer, holds a Ph.D. in Literature from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, on The Development of Saul Bellow’s Art, and an M.Phil. from London University, on Henry Fielding. She has taught literature at Haifa University and the Technion, and been Visiting Lecturer at various universities in the United States, Canada, France and England.
Ada Aharoni won a British Council Poetry Grant, and was Visiting Poet in England. She represented Israel at the Middle East Poetry Forum held in Boston, and was Writer in Residence in Cleveland, Ohio. She delivered lectures and poetry readings on American and Canadian Television and Radio in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto, Ottawa and Edmonton, on her books: From the Pyramids to Mount Carmel,her translations of Shin Shalom’s New Poems, and her historical novels The Second Exodus, and Thea.
She has published twenty books in Israel, England, France and the United States. Her novels, poems, stories and articles, have been translated into several languages, including: French, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Italian and Gujarati. She is the recipient of a number of literary awards in Israel, England, France and the United States. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Saul Bellow Society and of WAAC-the World Academy of Arts and Culture.
In 1991 she was elected President of the XIII World Congress of poets in Istanbul and was awarded the Yunus Emre Poetry Prize. She is editor of the Literary Magazine: Galim-Waves, which she founded in 1987. She organized the XIII World Congress of Poets in Haifa (September 7-10, 1992), under the Patronage of Unesco, the Haifa Municipality, and the American Embassy. In 1993, she was awarded the Crown World Poets Award, by the World Poetry Research Institute; and the Rachel Poetry Prize. She is a member of PEN, the Israeli Writers’ Association, and the American Writers’ Guild.She writes in English and Hebrew, and lives on Mount Carmel in Haifa.
