刘章，1939年出生於河北兴隆，1956年开始写作，1962年加入中国作家协会。曾长期生活在山区农村，视土地为母亲，视乡亲如骨肉。酷爱中国古典诗词，以使新诗与诗词结合，讲声韵、雅俗共赏为自己追求，重视诗体建设，做过多种探索。已出版《刘章诗选》、《刘章自选诗》等诗文集23部。组诗《北山恋》获全国首届新诗奖，歌词《知音歌》获全国七届五个一工程奖，多次获省级奖。多首（篇）诗文被选入大中小学教材和辅导教材，多首诗刻於名山。现任中国作家协会《诗刊》编委、《新国风》诗刊主编、石家庄市作家协会主席。

      Liuzhang was born in Xinglong, Hebei Province in 1939. He began to create the poem in 1956 and entered China Writers’ Association in 1962. He looks on the earth as mother and the local people as the kindred because he had lived in the rural area for a long time. He extremely loves Chinese classic poetry and he tries his best to link the new-style poetry with the poetry. He pursues the rhyme and hopes that his poetry can be understood by every average person. He pays much attention to the style creation of poetry. He has published 23 works including Selected Verses of Liuzhang, Selected Verses by Liuzhang. He was awarded the First New Style Poem Prize for his poems group Love to the North Mountain; awarded the National 7th Five Ones Engineering Prizes for the lyric Song of Intimate Friends and awarded the provincial prizes for many times. A great number of his poetry have been selected into the teaching materials and supplement materials for the students with different levels; a few poems have been carved in the famous mountains. He is at present director of Poetry of China Writers’ Association, chief in editor of New Style of The Nation, chairman of Shijiazhuang Writers’ Association.
