犁青主编  中英对照

曾卓，原名曾庆冠，1922年生於湖北省黄陂县。1943年与诗友共同组织“诗垦地”社。1943年入重庆中央大学历史系，课余并从事戏剧演出活动。1947年大学毕业后，主编武汉《大刚报》副刊多年。1949年以后，历任《大刚报》副总编辑，《新武汉报》（后称《长江日报》）副社长，武汉市文联副主席。1955年受胡风错案牵连。1980年平反，并任中国作协湖北分会副主席，中国诗歌学会副会长，中国作协理事及名誉委员等。出版诗集：《门》（1944），《悬崖边的树》（1981），《老水手的歌》（1983），《曾卓抒情诗选》（1988）等。《老水手的歌》曾获中国作协第二届优秀诗歌奖。作者在该集的序言中这样说：“我希望朴实地唱出心中的歌：没有喧哗，没有装腔作势，没有矫揉造作，不是仅仅用华丽的语言将诗装饰起来，不是仅仅用智慧的语言将诗点缀起来。我知道，读者是不容易欺骗的。”

 Zeng Zhuo (1922-2002), was born in Huangpi County, Hubei Province, and finished his primary schooling in Wuhan previous to the Anti-Japanese War. Together with other coeval member fellows, he formed Poetry Reclaimed Wasteland in Chongqing in 1941. From 1943 he studied at the History Department of Central University in Chongqing and Nanjing during the war and post-war times respectively. After being graduated in 1947, he came back to Wuhan and resided there without further migration up to the present day. He had served successively as accredited editor solely responsible for the Literary Supplement of Da Gang Bao, vice chief editor of DGB, vice principal of New Wuhan Bao, and vice chairman of the Wuhan Union of Writers and Artists before his involvement in the unjust verdict of the so-called Hu Feng case in 1955. Twenty years later, he was rehabilitated in former posts. Now as one of the honorary members of the Committee of Chinese Writers Association, he retired. Poetical works: The Door (1944), The Tree on the Edge of the Cliff (1981), The Song of An Old Sailor (1983), Selected Lyrical Poems (1988). The Song of An Old Sailor won the second Poetry Award sponsored by Chinese Writers Association. In the preface of the winner, the author remarked, “I hope I could be natural and guileless in singing songs from my heart: no noises, no affectations, no pretensions. And what I have sung could not only be free from any adornment with flowery language, but also from any embellishment with witticism. So far as I know, readers of poetry, no matter how naive or how sophisticated, would be by no means subject to sentimental delusions.”
